WEBApr 18, 2021 · I have the complete setup also, but since I also have a "real" horizontal mill, I have never used it. It probably "works", but I don't like the Benchmaster setup for horizontal. The spindle goes in the "ram clamps", and a fairly light, thin casting clamps on the spindle housing between the clamps to hold the overarm. Does not seem very stiff.

The motor mount is hinged so it provides belt tension by gravity in vert mode. you don't use the swivel in horizontal mode (at least mine doesn't.) The giant pulley would be good to slow the cutter speed, but doesn't do much for speed changes.

I'm running a 1 hp motor on it and the current belt drive pulley system works fine but after putting vfd on my Burke #4, I want to add it to the Benchmaster. Mine has a set screw. with a brass shoe in the hole to bear against the thread. Look very closely around the ring to see if there is a taper pin.
WEBNov 26, 2015 · Thanks for the response. The motor that came with my mill doesn't fit the original base/footprint. It's been modified to fit the machine. The motor being used front foot to end of shaft is too short. The previous owner had machined a base to fix the problem. This base bolt to the original motor foot holes and allow the motor to use a new footprint.
